Main Information

Every year during Jonines the residents of Šančiai gather at the Nemunas, create an evening bonfire, swim in the river and make wreaths.

In the background of Napoleon's Hill, the most famous songs of the community opera "Cabbage Field" were performed on an improvised stage-raft. The songs were performed by Šančiai parish choir leader and soloist Snieguolė Urbonienė, soloist Mykolas Stanevičius and Jurgita Dirmontienė. Saulius Jančiauskas, a resident of the nearby street, sang old famous songs, Carolina Pailhe improvised the summer night movements. The DJ of the evening was a local resident "International Farmer", and a surprise of the evening - a hurricane from the South and a huge scrap that burned all night.

About 200 people attended the event. 5 participants took part in the rehearsals.

The event is part of the project "Genius loci: urbanization and civil society" and was partially supported by Šančiai eldership. The project is part of the Active Citizens' Fund, funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism.
