Beetles hatch in August-September. and shall remain wintering under the bark of the trees. The larvae of the first year also winter there. Adults are active in May-June, then they can be found on tree trunks and logs.

The biggest threats are the deteriorating quality and fragmentation of habitats, the isolation of populations due to intensive forestry, deforestation and sanitary felling. In order to protect the species, it is necessary to leave drying or withered trees in the habitats of beetles, as well as to leave some fallen trees or broken large branches in their habitats.
